Holiday Dinners

Holiday Dinners

Many years ago, I had moved to a new home. We didn't have any living room furniture yet. Christmas was coming and all I had was the dining table and chairs and a large empty living room. We were going to have family over and even though they didn't care about decor or seating, I did. I found my solution,of all places, at the hardware rental store.

I decided to rental multiple table tables and chairs. This option would fill the empty space with plenty of seating. I purchased table cloths, napkins and some candles. I decorated with garlands and wreaths and my empty room became a lovely. intimate, restaurant-like setting. I used the dining table as a buffet table, where guests could help themselves and meet and greet each other. All and all, it was one of the most memorable Christmas celebrations we have had. Sometimes, at large tables, you don't see everyone because you are sitting shoulder to shoulder rather than facing each other. At the card tables, family members and guests were speaking to each and could hear each other better because they were in small group settings. Since guests also needed to move around in order to serve themselves from the dining table full of our traditional holiday dishes, there was also more interaction between tables as they paused to chat. Despite the individual tables, the guests actually interacted more!

That Christmas event, that was simply a solution to a problem, turned out to be an excellent affair. It also serves as our inspiration for this classic tablecloth. The understated elegance that this table linen evokes uplifts any smaller sized table to intimate luxury. It is easy to envision the laughter between tables, and stories of yore being told to the small groups of friends and family this holiday season as they all mingle throughout your room. May everyone's holiday be as joyful as ours was that year. Happy Holidays!
