Handing Down Tradition Through Recipes

Handing Down Tradition Through Recipes

One of my most treasured gifts are the recipes written in my grandmother's own hand. It means so  much to me that she took the time to write down recipes of my favorites that she used to make for me. And I have to say, just seeing her handwriting makes me feel that she is close. Handwriting is such a personal thing.

My mother did not leave me with her recipes or handwriting, and many a day I wish that she had. he also had favorite specialties that I would like to recreate for my family, but I can not find a recipe to duplicate them. Even if I did, it would not evoke the same emotion as seeing her recipes in her won handwriting.

For these reasons, I believe that the recipe notebooks are such a special gift for a new bride or groom, or as a housewarming gift to kids who have left the nest. New cooks will appreciate the help of  reading recipes that are familiar to them.  If they are experienced cooks, they will appreciate the time and personalization of a gift of handed down family traditions in food. Mom and/or Grandma can hand write in the spiral recipe notebooks recipes that they would like to pass down as a way to leave a legacy for future generations.

Like wise, Mom and Grandma would be happy to get the notebooks as gifts, so they may collect their favorite recipes in one place. They may even be flattered if asked to record recipes to give back to the gift giver.

These Recipe Notebooks are memory makers of family dinners for generations to enjoy,
